The 2023 Mud and Saltwater Short Film Fest Premiere on Friday June 2nd will be beamed onto a large screen at the Mangrove Hotel for an exceptional ‘under the stars’ viewing experience on June 2nd 2023 from 5.30 to 9.30pm with films rolling at 6.30pm. .

Director Kandy Curran says the short film entries are extraordinary, with filmmakers from across the Kimberley region telling unique stories and showcasing the region’s iconic landscapes through animation, music, drama-narrative, documentary and of course, comedy.

The short films are judged prior to the Premiere by professional filmmakers, and the winners of each category announced at the Premiere by emcee Bart Pigram. Speaking of Broome’s talented Pigram family, this year, Ngaire Pigram, whose pronouns are she/they, is a proud queer Wajarri and Yawuru, multi-disciplinary storyteller from Broome, has joined  the judging panel along with professional filmmakers Paul Bell, Neil Turner and Mark Jones.
